A look at his past

As I mentioned, Tre’Davious White has played in every game since entering the league. His 32 regular-season starts are a good sign of things to come. After all, you cannot make an impact from the bench.  White made his presence felt early and often as a rookie. He was one of the best rookie defenders in the league in 2017 but fellow cornerback Marshon Lattimore was named Defensive Rookie of the Year.

White was incredible in his first year. He finished the season with four interceptions and 18 passes defended. He also forced a fumbled, recovered two more and took one back to the house. His third career game was his break-out performance.

In Week 3 of 2017, White had seven tackles, one interception, and four pass breakups against the Denver Broncos. A week later, White took a fumble recovery 52 yards for a score. That was the difference in a 23-17 victory over the Atlanta Falcons. From Weeks 3-6, White was on fire. He picked off one pass, defended eight more, forced a fumble and recovered two.

A strong rookie campaign was followed with a solid sophomore performance as well. His numbers were down a bit from his first season, but for good reason. He only intercepted two passes and defended eight. However, opposing quarterbacks rarely threw his way.

He also allowed just 0.68 yards per coverage snap, the fourth-best mark in the NFL last season, according to PFF.

NFL teams are aware of just how good White is on the outside. Not throwing the ball at him is one way of making that perfectly clear. If teams know, fans need to know.
