How White will gain star status

Defensive players have a difficult time becoming household names, just ask Kevin Byard. Recognition is typically reserved for sack leaders and hard-hitters. For cornerbacks, the key is confidence and demeanor. Richard Sherman, Jalen Ramsey, and countless others use trash talk and the mental side of the game to boost their presence.

Tre’Davious White carries himself in a similar fashion on the field. He celebrates after a stop in the run game or a pass breakup. Some call it arrogant, I call it exciting. Getting in his opponents’ heads will continue to do wonders. White isn’t afraid of a challenge. Defensive backs are tasked with one of the toughest jobs in the game: stopping elite wide receivers.

He has the respect of his peers. They are fully aware of what he brings to his table. White has been a consistent force on the Bills defense for two years and that doesn’t seem to be changing any time soon. The Bills have one of the stingiest defenses in the NFL. Another year near the top in passing defense certainly cannot hurt White’s stardom.

I expect teams to continue to stay away from White on the outside this season. There are serious question marks regarding the other cornerback spots in Buffalo. White will likely shadow the best receiver each team has to offer. If he locks down the best of the best, he will become a popular player. Common fans better get on board now while there is room on the ship.
