1. Paxton Lynch, QB

Most people are familiar with Paxton Lynch’s story. After an impressive junior season at Memphis, he was taken with the 26th overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft by the Broncos. With Peyton Manning retiring after the Super Bowl 50 victory, Lynch was supposed to be the future of the franchise.

His career fell apart quickly though, and Lynch started just four games for the Broncos during his first two seasons with the team. He was unable to beat out Trevor Siemian for the starting quarterback job. Lynch didn’t even make it through his rookie contract, because the Broncos cut him early in September of 2018.

Now, Lynch is competing with Geno Smith for the backup job in Seattle. Smith has significantly more experience, but Lynch played well in Seattle’s preseason opener. The Seahawks have a habit of keeping only two quarterbacks on the active roster for the regular season, so preseason performances could be huge for Lynch.

Against the team that drafted him, Lynch completed 11 of 15 passing attempts for 109 yards and a touchdown. He also carried the ball four times for 38 yards and another score. Lynch should have a leg up on Smith at the moment considering how poorly the former New York Jet played.
