Dallas Cowboys: 53-man roster prediction after Preseason Week 1
By Randy Gurzi
Quarterback (2): Dak Prescott, Cooper Rush
With Dak Prescott fully entrenched as the starter, the Cowboys have a player who has never missed a game due to injury. That durability allows them to feel confident going with just two quarterbacks this season and they decide on keeping Cooper Rush ahead of Mike White.

White may have been a draft pick whereas Rush was an undrafted free agent but White has yet to show much promise at all. He could end up playing better in the remainder of the preseason games and change his standing, but for now, he’s on the outside looking in.
Rush has his own warts but he continues to hold down the No. 2 spot which means he has the trust of the coaching staff which is really the most important thing he has going for him.
Dallas then could keep a third quarterback on the practice squad and a good candidate for that role is Taryn Christion who they just signed out of South Dakota State. Originally signed by the Seattle Seahawks, Christion seems to be a great fit as a backup to Prescott as they have a similar playing style.
Christion, who has a very strong arm, is able to win with his legs but needs refinement which makes the squad a perfect place for him to develop.
