2020 NFL Draft: Roberts’ preseason mock draft
By Ryan Roberts
Oklahoma wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown was the first wide receiver selected in the 2019 NFL Draft. The crazy part is the best wide receiver in Norman is still in college for at least one more season.
Junior CeeDee Lamb has been given some lofty comparisons to Texans All-Pro wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins this offseason. Demonstrating elite body control and hands through contact, Lamb does a great job winning at the catch point. He also has enough juice to affect the game on a variety of levels and roles.
Lamb would present a perfect option for the Chicago Bears, who are starving for a true No. 1 receiving options. Unfortunately, this pick is heading to the Raiders.
The Melvin Gordon saga is in full effect this offseason. Just how that situation plays out remains to be seen. One thing is certain: Justin Jackson and Austin Ekeler are pretty solid depth pieces, but should definitely not be counted on to be lead backs anytime in the near future.
So, for now, I’m playing it safe, and getting the top-rated running back in the 2020 NFL Draft class late in the first round. Georgia running back D’Andre Swift is the next in line of great Georgia running backs. He has an all-around game that is perfect for the modern NFL. He can run inside, has enough speed outside, demonstrates elite vision and is a mismatch weapon in the passing game.
Let’s hope for the best for Melvin Gordon but some insurance might be just what the doctor ordered.
