2. Caraun Reid, DT

After making strong improvements over the past few years, the Colts have gotten much more formidable along the defensive line. The starting group of Justin Houston, Tyquan Lewis, Denico Autry and Jabaal Sheard is a group that should have success on a week-to-week basis for Indianapolis. And though they have solid depth pieces to work with, they would still be well served to establish more of hierarchy.

Veteran defensive tackle Caraun Reid is giving his best effort to try and assert his place in that hierarchy. The 2014 fifth-round pick by the Lions who also spent the end of the 2017 season and the 2018 offseason with the Colts hasn’t had an overly productive career to this point. However, you wouldn’t be able to tell that by watching him against Cleveland on Saturday.

Reid was a beast against the Browns, notching four total tackles (three solo), two tackles for loss, one sack and a quarterback hit. The well-traveled defensive lineman was everywhere for the Colts and really put a struggling Cleveland offensive line on their heels whenever he was on the field coming up the middle.

It may be an uphill battle for Reid to make the 53-man roster given those that are ahead of him right now. Having said that, performances like his on Saturday are impossible to ignore and those are the things he needs to do if he’s going to earn a spot.
