Laquon Treadwell trade rumors: 3 Possible trade partners for Vikings
1. New York Giants
Perhaps by no fault but their own, the New York Giants are in a quagmire of transition entering the 2019 NFL season. They have their supposed heir to Eli Manning in the form of Daniel Jones but it remains to be seen if head coach Pat Shurmur and general manager Dave Gettleman are ready to give up the reins to Jones just yet.
No matter who is playing quarterback, though, the simple fact of the matter is that the Giants group of pass-catchers leaves a ton to be desired. This, of course, first stems from the Odell Beckham Jr. trade that netted Big Blue a first-round pick in the 2019 draft. Now it’s running back Saquon Barkley, tight end Evan Engram and wide receivers Sterling Shepard and Golden Tate (once Tate’s four-game suspension ends).
Even in the best of lights, this is a group that is exceptionally shallow and, at wide receiver, that has only one even remotely reliable commodity. Given that and the fact that the defense is also rebuilding, the G-Men are in a position where they can take risks and, quite frankly, should be willing to do so.
That puts them in position to pursue a Laquon Treadwell trade and make a deal. The physical tools that made the Ole Miss product so enticing as a draft prospect still remain and, if the Giants would be able to give the Vikings just modest compensation to get the wide receiver, it’d be a worthwhile endeavor for Gettleman’s club.
