With four quarterbacks on the roster, the New York Giants have to decide whether they want them all or will have to part with one.

Raise your hand if you thought the New York Giants were going to have back-to-back 30-point games and start off 2-0 in the 2019 preseason. No one? Makes sense considering what happened last season and what went down this past offseason for the Giants.

There are a lot of factors that have gone into the Giants early success with the preseason. The biggest factor: the quarterbacks.

Last preseason, the Giants went into training camp with four rostered quarterbacks: tenured starter Eli Manning, journeyman Alex Tanney, 2017 third-round pick Davis Webb and rookie Kyle Lauletta. In what turned out to be a shocking move, the Giants waived Webb in favor of Tanney and Lauletta.

This year, the team finds itself in a similar scenario, except now with No. 6 overall pick Daniel Jones in the mix. But could the team keep all four quarterbacks? It’s not too far-fetched if you think about it.

It’s pretty obvious Manning and Jones aren’t going anywhere, one the clear-cut starter while the latter was just picked in the first round of this year’s draft and has seen success early this preseason. That takes us to Tanney and Lauletta — onne has spent his career with eight different teams while the latter struggled in his rookie season. But this is a new year with new expectations and a new mindset heading into the regular season.

Lauletta has shown signs of improvement from last season. Lauletta completed 9-of-12 passes for 116 yards and a touchdown against the New York Jets. With the Giants up 12 in the fourth quarter against the Bears, Lauletta had limited opportunities throwing the ball. He threw for 13 yards and a touchdown while also rushing for 15 yards to keep the chains moving in the red zone.

The Giants became the eighth team Tanney has been on since entering the league in 2012. Even only playing in one regular season game in his career — which was only a half of football — Tanney signed a two-year contract extension this past offseason. He’s been used more to help develop the young quarterbacks on the team, such as Jones.

In the preseason opener, Tanney threw for 190 yards and a touchdown. He struggled in Week 2 against the Bears, however, completing just four passes and throwing an interception.

So what value is there keeping both Lauletta and Tanney? If the Giants keep both, a lot of good can come out of it. Lauletta can be used as part of a trade down the line, as he’s young and has potential to be a starter at some point in his career. Tanney can be used to help develop Jones and groom him to be the future of the franchise.

Either way, the Giants have found their guy in Daniel Jones.
