The Baltimore Ravens topped the Eagles in the ever-important Week 3 preseason matchup but which players stepped up and proved themselves vs. Philadelphia?

Since it’s the preseason, you might not realize that the Baltimore Ravens have been near untouchable in these exhibition contests over the last half-decade. Entering Thursday night’s trip to Philadelphia, John Harbaugh’s team had won 15 straight preseason tilts. On the road against the Eagles, they extended that streak to 16 with a 25-16 victory.

Despite Week 3 of the preseason being dubbed the dress rehearsal game, many of the Ravens starters — particularly on offense — didn’t see the field. However, that largely allowed the backups for Baltimore to step into the spotlight and shine, trying to prove themselves worth a spot on the 53-man roster.

While Michael Floyd had a big touchdown catch, Miles Boykin caught a nice 44-yard pass and Tim Williams was a nuisance on defense, they weren’t the biggest standouts on Thursday night. That honor belongs to these three Baltimore Ravens who left a massive impact on the game against the Eagles.

3. Marquise Brown, WR

Admittedly, the Ravens 2019 first-round pick wasn’t all that impressive with his performance on Thursday night. Marquise Brown notched just three receptions on the night for 17 yards and his lone carry went for a loss of four yards. He earns the title of standout for the Ravens, though, because his return to the field is that big for Baltimore.

Brown has been recovering from a Lisfranc injury all offseason and this was his first taste of preseason action. While it was obvious that his speed isn’t back while he continues to get 100 percent healthy, having him back on the field is a huge boom for this offense. Once he gets back to his full self, he’s clearly going to be a big weapon in this offense.

2. Tyus Bowser, EDGE

Losing Za’Darius Smith and Terrell Suggs in free agency this offseason, the Baltimore Ravens pass-rush off the edge has a different look this season. Subsequently, they need players to step up and make an impact in that department. Tyus Bowser certainly came to show his value on Thursday night against the Eagles.

Baltimore’s 2017 second-round pick was a menace coming off of the edge against Philadelphia. Bowser finished the game with four total tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack and a quarterback hit. Furthering his big night, he might have added more to those stats if he wasn’t held on a number of occasions.

Though he may be a backup to start the season, Bowser is stating his case to be one of the primary edge rushers for the Ravens in his third NFL season.

1. Trace McSorley, QB

While Lamar Jackson didn’t play in Week 3 of the preseason, that merely opened the window of opportunity for rookie Trace McSorley. The Penn State product wasn’t the most polished passer coming into the draft and, in many ways, didn’t look the part of the quarterback prototype.

As anyone in Happy Valley will tell you, though, McSorley simply gets it done when he’s on the field. He showcased that against the Eagles with a monster game. The sixth-round pick went 19-of-28 for 203 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions while also adding a rushing touchdown to his credit as well.

Whenever he’s in the game, McSorley just makes plays, even if they aren’t always pretty. He’s clearly vying for a spot on the Ravens 53-man roster and, with performances such as this one, it’s going to be hard to deny him the opportunity to be the league’s “next Taysom Hill“.
