3. Cowboys need to stay close to Eagles

With all due respect to the Washington Redskins and New York Giants, it’s safe to assume the Philadelphia Eagles are going to be the biggest threat to the Cowboys in the NFC East.

More from NFL Spin Zone

Between winning the Super Bowl during the 2017 season along with earning a second trip in a row to the playoffs last year, the Eagles are expected to be a top contender in the NFC once again in 2019.

Of course, if Philadelphia is going to have any shot at competing for the division title, they will need to figure out a way to overcome Dallas.

But depending on how things play out with Elliott, the Eagles could be at a major advantage over the Cowboys in regards to the division battle.

No one needs to explain just how much of a difference-maker Elliott can be when in the lineup for the Cowboys, and if Dallas gets off to a rough start in September without their star running back, expect the Eagles to take full advantage.

The Cowboys may feel confident in being able to get by without Elliott, but there’s no question his holdout has provided the Eagles with an extra advantage in the division race since the longer it lasts, the happier Philadelphia is going to be.
