Carolina Panthers – Over/Under Line: 8

Before we even get started, it needs to be said that I have the Carolina Panthers down as an 8-8 team in 2019. Subsequently, I’m a big fan of their Over/Under win total being right at that mark as the oddsmakers are clearly on the same page. However, we’re not here to say “push” in terms of making picks. Thus, it’s decision time for if it’s more likely that the team would go 7-9 or 9-7.

For me, it’s the former. The offensive line in Carolina worries me, even if the offensive weapons are enticing still. On top of that, though, Cam Newton’s injuries are piling up and that’s a scary, scary proposition. If he’s not healthy, this team just doesn’t have the same upside as they otherwise would. Because of that, dipping below .500 is the more likely outcome if we can’t say they finish at 8-8.

Chicago Bears – Over/Under Line: 9

The Double-Doink ended the Chicago Bears’ playoff run last year and everyone has seemingly been searching for reasons that this team will regress in 2019. And there’s no denying that losing Vic Fangio and some key secondary players will be something to deal with. At the same time, though, the reasons to believe that last year wasn’t an anomaly outweigh any reasons for pessimism about this team.

This defensive unit is talented enough to thrive under Chuck Pagano as the new defensive coordinator. Most importantly, though, I still believe in Mitchell Trubisky and, in his second year under Matt Nagy, he’s primed to take big steps forward. If that happens and the defense remains top notch, the Bears are going to be tough to beat and should be safely over nine wins.
