5. Cleveland Browns

Week 1 Result: 43-13 loss to the Tennessee Titans

There was no other team in the entire NFL this year that had more hype surrounding it heading into Week 1 than the Browns. Despite only winning seven games in 2018, many felt that Cleveland would be among the best teams in the AFC this season. Well, if their first game of the year is any indication of how the rest of their season is going to turn out, then it’s just going to be more of the same for the Browns.

Against the Titans on Sunday, Cleveland actually still had a chance to come out with a win midway through the third quarter. Tennessee only led the Browns by two points with a little over a quarter left to play and there was still hope for a victory in the Dawg Pound.

Then the Titans ripped off 28 unanswered points and brought Cleveland back down from the fluffy cloud they’ve been resting on for the entire offseason.

Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield, who was already being crowned as a top 10 quarterback during the summer despite only entering his second year in the NFL, turned in a poor performance that saw him throw three interceptions and just one touchdown.

It wasn’t just Mayfield this week though, the entire Cleveland roster pretty much played a part in their loss to Tennessee. Especially every Browns player who was responsible for their 18 penalties on Sunday.

4. Atlanta Falcons

Week 1 Result: 28-12 loss to the Minnesota Vikings

For the past few years, the Falcons have been a team that many believe should be a consistent playoff contender. Rightfully so though since Atlanta still has a bunch of players on their roster who were part of their run to the Super Bowl in 2016.

Despite the impressive talent on their roster, things couldn’t have gone much worse for them in Week 1 against the Vikings.

The final score of Sunday’s game isn’t even a fair reflection of how poorly Atlanta played. It took the Falcons more than 50 minutes to put any points up on the scoreboard. And by then, the loss was already in the books.

For a team that’s supposed to have a lethal offense led by Matt Ryan and Julio Jones, Atlanta didn’t look like a squad that anyone should be fearing this season.
