Following the Atlanta Falcons’ victory over the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 2 of the regular season, here are three Falcons standouts from the win.

After the Atlanta Falcons kicked off the 2019 NFL regular season with a disappointing showing on the road against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 1, Atlanta bounced back in a big way on Sunday night in the second week of the year. The Falcons hosted their first home contest of the regular season when they welcomed another tough NFC opponent into Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Sunday Night Football.

While looking to battle back to the .500 mark at the early point in the year after falling in the regular-season opener last week in Minneapolis, Atlanta secured its first win of the year in its Week 2 matchup on the big stage.

Thanks to a late touchdown in the fourth quarter, the Falcons were able to defeat the Eagles 24-20 on Sunday night in their home opener in Atlanta.

Heading into the final few minutes of the game on Sunday night against Philadelphia, the Falcons trailed the Eagles 20-17 while looking to eventually drop to a winless mark of 0-2 on the year through two weeks.

Instead, with 2:10 left to go in the contest in Atlanta, Falcons veteran quarterback Matt Ryan connected with star wideout Julio Jones for a late-game touchdown pass to push Atlanta out in front of Philadelphia and come away with the victory in Week 2 of the regular season schedule.

With the win, Atlanta improves to 1-1 overall on the year and currently sits in a three-way tie with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the New Orleans Saints for first place in the NFC South division. The Falcons will hit the road next week in the third week fo the regular season when they travel to take on the Indianapolis Colts at noon on Sunday in Indianapolis.

With the loss on the road, Philadelphia drops to 1-1 overall on the season and moves to second place in the NFC East standings, trailing only the Dallas Cowboys atop the division at 2-0. The Eagles will return home in Week 3 at noon next Sunday, playing host to another NFC opponent in the Detroit Lions in Philadelphia.

Following the Falcons’ victory in Week 2 on Sunday night against the Eagles, let’s take a look back at three standout performers in the win for Atlanta in advance of the third week of the season.
