Running Backs

Sony Michel NE (vs. NYJ, $6,000): Trying to predict which New England Patriots running back will have the biggest day is usually about as easy as completing a crossword puzzle in the dark without a flashlight. This week, the task is much easier for DFS players, as Michel is perfectly lined up to raze the Jets for about 100 yards and a touchdown or two in a probable laugher.

Matt Breida SF (vs. PIT, $5,400) and Raheem Mostert SF (vs. PIT, $4,700): The San Francisco 49ers got off to a 2-0 start before their home opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Breida and Mostert racked up over 120 total yards apiece last week, and the game script this week will likely be just as favorable. There’s no reason this tandem can’t repeat their success against a struggling Steelers squad.

Peyton Barber TB (vs. NYG, $4600): With apologies to Val Kilmer’s Doc Holliday, it appears my hypocrisy knows no bounds, as I’m recommending a Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back, just three days after going on record saying that I can’t in good conscience recommend any Buccaneers RB. The Giants’ decision to start Daniel Jones against a Todd Bowles defense should result in more turnovers, which will yield more red zone opportunities for the Bucs’ goal-line back to cross the stripe.

Miles Sanders PHI (vs. DET, $3,900): This is more of a gut feeling, but I’ve had this contest circled on the calendar as the Miles Sanders Breakout Game. I feel stronger about this prediction with two top aerial weapons grounded. DeSean Jackson is out, and Alshon Jeffery‘s status is legitimately as questionable as his official injury designation. The Eagles will need to get a spark from somewhere; Sanders is as electric of a weapon as any on the Eagles roster, and the price is right for most DFS formats.

Darwin Thompson KC (vs. BUF, $3,000): The forgotten preseason darling of fantasy analysts everywhere, Thompson has a wide-open window with LeSean McCoy and Damien Williams both out with injuries. Expect him to cash in on his opportunity. You should, too.
