New York Jets: Stock report at 0-3 heading into bye week
No one needs an early bye week more than the New York Jets. At 0-3 to start the 2019 season, let’s check in on Gang Green’s stock report.
The New York Jets are heading into their bye week. Fortunately, that means they will not lose this week. Can the NFL schedule two or three other bye weeks for this hapless squad as well?
Ah yes, Gang Green has become gangrene to their frustrated fans. This team is an absolute mess as they come into their early-season bye with a discouraging 0-3 record. Sam Darnold can’t return soon enough.
Let’s take a look at New York’s stock report as presently constituted.

Stock Up
Jamal Adams: The 2018 Pro Bowler is the emotional leader of a defensive unit that has played hard and actually pretty well this season. The LSU product had a 61-yard interception return against the New England Patriots last Sunday. He also is tied for second in solo tackles (13) and passes defensed (2).
All of this losing has to be killing Adams who, while he can be very outspoken, has a true passion and motor that never quits.
Darryl Roberts: The 29-year old cornerback replaced Morris Claiborne as a starter this season and has performed well to date. Roberts paces the club in total tackles (21), solo tackles (18) and has also added an interception as well. He’s certainly played better than the highly-overpaid Trumaine Johnson, that’s for sure.
Stock Down
Everyone Else: I am not trying to be funny here but it’s a sad truth. The head coach (Adam Gase) is very overrated, Le’Veon Bell has no holes to run through, the offensive line is a joke and it goes on and on and on.
Hopefully, Sam Darnold (mono) can return after the bye week when Gang Green travels to Philadelphia to face the Eagles. Injuries to C.J. Mosley (groin) and Quincy Enunwa (neck, out for season) have not helped. The return of tight end Chris Herndon (suspension) in Week 6 should be a huge boost to an anemic offense that is averaging a paltry 11 points per game (31st in the league).
Speedster Robby Anderson (10 receptions, 115 yards) has not been able to run many deep routes because Darnold or Luke Falk have not had the time to throw due to one of the poorest offensive lines in the NFL. Bell and Jamison Crowder have 20 receptions each but most of those have come via dump-offs or quick slants. Ugh.
No team in the league needed an early bye week more than the Jets. They need to recharge. Let’s just hope we see a much better product when they return to the gridiron on Oct. 6. It can’t get much worse — or can it?
