Minnesota Vikings: 3 Bold predictions vs. Bears in Week 4
1. Cook could be held at bay for the first time this season
On Sunday afternoon at Soldier Field, the Vikings young stud running back Dalvin Cook could be held at bay for the first time this season.
Through three weeks of the 2019 regular season schedule, Cook has been one of the top running backs, if not the top running back, in the NFL. Coming into the contest against the Bears, Cook currently holds season totals of 375 yards, a 6.6 yards per carry average, four touchdowns and a season-long rush of 75 yards.
Among other players in the NFL, Cook ranks first in total yards this year, first in yards per game (125.0), fifth in total rushing attempts (57) and is tied for second in the league in rushing touchdowns.
But this week against a tough Chicago defense, Cook is going to have his work cut out for him if he wants to try and continue his trend to kick off the season of displaying his dominance throughout the course of a game.
The Bears have one of the best rushing defenses in the league so far in 2019, ranking fourth in the NFL is total rushing yards allowed with 206, letting opponents rush for just 3.1 yards per attempt on the ground.
Chicago, which hasn’t allowed an opponent to record a 100-yard rushing performance since the 2017 campaign, is holding teams to just 68.7 rushing yards per game, which ranks fifth-best in the league.
Minnesota has relied heavily on the run through three games so far this season and that has so far resulted in success throughout the course of contests and in its two victories especially. But on Sunday, the Vikings running game led by Cook out of the backfield might have their work cut out for them and that in return might result in one of the top running backs in the league so far this year to be held at bay throughout the course of the NFC North matchup.
