Cincinnati Bengals

The Cincinnati Bengals made a big move this offseason on the sidelines, letting longtime coach Marvin Lewis go and hiring former Rams quarterback coach Zac Taylor. Many thought Taylor would bring creativity and life to the Bengals offense. So far, though, that hasn’t happened.

In fairness to the new head coach, the Bengals offseason hasn’t been helped by the injuries that have occurred on offense. They lost first-round offensive tackle Jonah Williams and star wide receiver A.J. Green due to injury, though the latter may return eventually. Meanwhile, John Ross was placed on IR after Week 4.

In addition to losing Williams for the year before the regular season ever began, veteran Cordy Glenn suffered a concussion early in the season and has yet to return to the field. As a result of not having arguably their two best players up front protecting Andy Dalton, the play in the trenches has been severely lacking.

The good news for Bengals fans is that Cincinnati’s first victory may be coming soon. Taylor and his team welcome the also-winless Arizona Cardinals to the Queen City on Sunday in Week 5. That puts them in a position to win for a number of reasons.

Arizona’s brutal offensive line should allow the solid Bengals defensive line to get after Kyler Murray. Meanwhile, the Cardinals are still without Patrick Peterson due to suspension on defense. It may not be pretty but Cincinnati will be in a position to get their first win of the 2019 campaign.
