Seattle Seahawks: Studs and duds vs. Rams in Week 5
By Samuel Teets
Stud: Jadeveon Clowney, DE
With a little over five minutes to go in the first half, the Rams drove down inside Seattle’s 20-yard line. Todd Gurley took the handoff and was promptly met by Jadeveon Clowney and Bobby Wagner. Both Seattle defenders ripped at the ball and it came loose. Clowney was officially credited with the forced fumble and he also recovered the ball.
While the Seahawks were unable to sack Jared Goff last night, Clowney did pay some visits to Los Angeles’ backfield. He was credited with two quarterback hits, which was tied for the most in the game.

Clowney has struggled to record sacks this season. His only one came against the Cincinnati Bengals back in Week 1. However, the Pro Bowler has found other ways to make an impact. Last week it was interception Kyler Murray and returning the pick for a score. This week, it was forcing a turnover on a promising Rams drive. While I’m sure this isn’t exactly what Seattle envisioned when they traded for Clowney, they’re satisfied with the results.
Dud: Jaron Brown, WR
Against a high-scoring team like the Rams, silly mistakes will cost opponents the game. We saw how some crucial mistakes sunk the Seahawks against the New Orleans Saints two weeks ago. While Wilson rarely commits egregious errors, his skill players have had a hard time holding onto the ball this season.
Jaron Brown opened the night by fumbling the ball deep in Seattle’s territory. Nickell Robey-Coleman ripped the ball out of Brown’s hands as he was going to the ground. The initial call on the field was that Brown was out of bounds when the ball popped out, but it was changed to a fumble and recovery by Los Angeles after a Sean McVay challenge.
Luckily for Brown, Seattle’s defense stiffened and held Los Angeles to a field goal.
