NFL picks against the spread for all 14 games comprising the Week 5 slate on Sunday and Monday, headlined by a massive Packers-Cowboys matchup.

Making NFL picks against the spread is a little sad in Week 5 of the 2019 season, mostly because there isn’t a titanic Miami Dolphins spread to pick against. The folks in South Beach get a week off from getting beaten down by oddsmakers and then on the field as they’re on bye this week, along with the Detroit Lions.

While that may be true, there are still some massive spreads that the odds have cooked up for NFL Week 5. Most notably, the Philadelphia Eagles are double-digit favorites against Luke Falk and the New York Jets while the New England Patriots are in the same boat as they take on Colt McCoy and the Washington Redskins.

Outside of that, though, there are some high-profile games that should be difficult in regards to NFL picks. The Chicago Bears, even with Chase Daniel, should handle the Oakland Raiders — but the game is in London, where strange things happen. Meanwhile, we have a huge NFC matchup with the Green Bay Packers heading to AT&T Stadium to face the Dallas Cowboys.

More from NFL Spin Zone

Lest we forget two entertaining primetime games in Week 5 to cap off our NFL picks as the Kansas City Chiefs host the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday Night Football. Meanwhile, the undefeated San Francisco 49ers welcome the potentially on-the-rise Cleveland Browns to end the week on Monday Night Football.

As simply as it can be said, Week 5 should be monumentally entertaining and informative in regards to how we view the league as we get past the quarter-mark of the 2019 season. But before we have that information, we have to rebound from two sub-.500 weeks by making NFL picks against the spread for every game on the week. Week 4 NFL picks record: 6-8
2019 NFL picks against the spread record: 28-31

NFL Picks Against the Spread, Week 5

Atlanta Falcons at Houston Texans (-4)

Matt Ryan and the Falcons offense should continue to move the ball, just not in any meaningful manner. The Texans will rebound and take advantage of this downright awful Atlanta defense to get the win handily at home.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+3) at New Orleans Saints

Getting bold here but Jameis Winston and the Buccaneers offense is getting hot. In the dome and up against Teddy Bridgewater, I don’t believe that the Saints can keep up with Tampa Bay clicking in a possible shootout.

Buffalo Bills at Tennessee Titans (-3)

Even if Josh Allen plays, he’s not going to be at 100 percent after taking a big hit last week. I love the Bills defense but think Tennessee can win ugly if Buffalo is slowed down at quarterback.

Jacksonville Jaguars at Carolina Panthers (-3)

Battle of the backup quarterbacks between Gardner Minshew and Kyle Allen. While both have been impressive, I prefer the Panthers supporting cast on both sides of the ball right now, pushing them to the home cover.

Arizona Cardinals (+3) at Cincinnati Bengals

These two teams are both bad to varying degrees at this point in the season. With Kyler Murray and co., however, I think the visiting Cardinals might just have a tad more firepower.

Minnesota Vikings (-5) at New York Giants

Despite the tumultuous week involving Kirk Cousins, Stefon Diggs and the Vikings, their defense should be enough to derail Daniel Jones and the Giants without Saquon Barkley in the lineup on Sunday.

New York Jets at Philadelphia Eagles (-14)

Luke Falk is going to have a very bad trip to Philadelphia.

Baltimore Ravens (-3.5) at Pittsburgh Steelers

Please, please don’t buy into the Steelers just because Mason Rudolph beat the Bengals last week. Lamar Jackson and the Ravens will bounce-back with a dominant road victory, likely by double-digits against a still-bad Pittsburgh defense.

New England Patriots (-16) at Washington Redskins

Colt McCoy isn’t going to change anything for the Redskins, especially going against a Patriots defense that has been perhaps the most impressive unit in the NFL through the first four weeks of the season.

Chicago Bears (-5.5) at Oakland Raiders

Chase Daniel making the start scares me, as does this game being in London. Even still, the Bears defense is strong enough to give the Raiders a ton of trouble and give me a little confidence in taking them in this game.

Denver Broncos at Los Angeles Chargers (-6.5)

The Chargers have not been nearly as impressive as many thought they’d be to start the 2019 NFL season. But just as much so, the Broncos have been even worse than expected.

Green Bay Packers at Dallas Cowboys (-3)

Losing to the Saints was a wonky game for the Cowboys. Playing against the Packers without Davante Adams, Dak Prescott and company will bounce back with a strong home victory over Green Bay.

Indianapolis Colts at Kansas City Chiefs (-11)

Man, this spread is just big enough to make me quite uncomfortable, especially after the Chiefs had to eke out a win against Detroit last week. Then again, I’m not betting against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City offense.

Cleveland Browns (+4) at San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers still have yet to fully prove themselves in my eyes and the Browns looked as we expected them to last week in beating Baltimore. Give me the Cleveland renaissance with Nick Chubb having another big week at the office.
