Stud: Marlon Mack

It’s never been a secret that the Chiefs defense is a bit lackluster. Whether against the run or against the pass, Kansas City has largely struggled to keep opposing offenses in check with any regularity in the young 2019 season. Against the Colts, though, they did an admirable job of making Jacoby Brissett‘s life hard.

That, in turn, put the pressure on running back Marlon Mack to carry the load on offense for Indianapolis. With a good matchup and running behind perhaps the most underappreciated offensive line in the NFL, the South Florida product delivered a massive performance in which he looked like a star.

Mack helped carry the offense on a night when points were at a premium. He finished the night with 29 carries for 132 yards while catching three passes for 16 yards. Though he didn’t find the end zone (the Colts only did once as a team on Sunday night), Mack was the catalyst for the Indianapolis offense, moving the ball with ease every time he touched it.

Seeing an increased role this season, Mack was supposed to give the Colts an uptick in production. Through five weeks, the running back has delivered and looked well worthy of being the No. 1 option out of the Indianapolis backfield. That was on display in the win over the Chiefs as Kansas City had no chance of stopping him on the night.
