3. Kansas City Chiefs (1)

The No. 1 team has been dethroned as the Kansas City Chiefs suffered a loss at home to the Indianapolis Colts. It was an odd sight as the high-flying Chiefs managed to score just 13 points and were knocked off by a score of 19-13.

A lot of credit for that has to go to the Colts, who just simply kept the ball out of the hands of Patrick Mahomes. He still had 39 pass attempts and went for 321 yards but he and the Kansas City offense had the ball for just 22:45 seconds in the loss.

One issue was their inability to move the ball on the ground. None of their running backs got anything going and they finished with just 36 yards on 14 carries — with Damien Williams leading the way with 23 of those yards. Another problem was their issues blocking as Mahomes was sacked four times, one of which came from Justin Houston, the former Chiefs superstar.

While the loss has to be frustrating, it’s not as if it’s earth-shattering for the Chiefs, that is as long as Patrick Mahomes is healthy. The reigning MVP had his ankle stepped on by Cameron Erving, and was visibly affected by this. Mahomes was limping on the field and couldn’t escape with the ease he has in the past.

If this lingers, it could be a problem. If not, this will simply be one loss to a good team that was well-prepared for the game.
