With the New England Patriots facing the New York Giants in Week 6 on Thursday Night Football, here are three Patriots players that must shine in the game.

Now entering the sixth week of the 2019 NFL regular season this week, the New England Patriots don’t look to be slowing up anytime soon. The defending Super Bowl Champions have followed up winning their league title a season ago by not losing a game going into a matchup against a traditional thorn in their side, the New York Giants.

New England, which has kicked off the year by winning five straight games in convincing fashion, will get a short week of preparation while it tries to extend that winning streak to six in a row. They welcome the Giants to Gillette Stadium on Thursday Night Football.

Coming off of a 33-7 win in Week 5 against the Washington Redskins last Sunday in the nation’s capital, New England heads into the new week of the regular season with a perfect 5-0 record to sit atop the AFC East standings.

The Patriots, who are one game ahead of the second-place Buffalo Bills (4-1 overall) in the division standings, also remain ahead of the winless Miami Dolphins (0-4) and New York Jets (0-4) in the AFC East.

Through five weeks of play, New England has been one of the more complete teams we’ve seen thus far in 2019 throughout the NFL. Although the Patriots’ offense has always been a high-powered unit, their defense has performed well and has given opponents a hard time in virtually every game up to this point.

On the other end of the field, New York comes into the Thursday Night Football matchup at 2-3 overall on the season, coming off of a 28-10 loss to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 5 at home in New York.

The Giants will enter the contest against the Patriots sitting behind the Dallas Cowboys (3-2) and Philadelphia Eagles (3-2) in the NFC East standings, sitting ahead of the winless Washington Redskins (0-5) at the bottom of the division.

On the big stage that in primetime, the Patriots will be favored in the game while coming in being viewed as a team that should come away with the victory on their home field at Gillette Stadium.

Prior to New England hosting New York at Foxborough in Week 6 of the season, let’s take a look at three players that will need to step up and shine for the Patriots in order for the defending champions to come away with their sixth straight win of the year.
