Running Backs

Start: James Conner, PIT (vs. LAC)

With the scary hit that Mason Rudolph suffered last week, it appears he won’t pass the concussion protocol to play in Week 6 and he’ll have to miss some time so third-stringer Devlin Hodges might have to make his first NFL start this week. With Conner putting up two good outings in a row, he’s finally starting to look like the top-12 running back you drafted him to be.

More from NFL Spin Zone

He’s facing a Chargers defense that gave up 147 total yards and a touchdown to Phillip Lindsay last week on their way to losing to an 0-4 Broncos team. Conner is coming off of two good fantasy performances in a row, totaling 180 total yards and two scores over the past two weeks. Look for the Steelers to use Conner heavy this week and for him to exceed his projection of 9.7 points.

Sit: LeSean McCoy, KC (vs HOU)

McCoy struggled to get anything going against the Colts in Week 5 and it resulted in only 14 snaps total with zero carries and only two receptions for 23 yards — not to mention a fumble for an abysmal 0.3 fantasy points. While it wasn’t entirely his fault, the offense for the Chiefs struggled all game to get anything going in the air or on the ground. McCoy didn’t see a snap in the second half.

With Tyreek Hill possibly coming back from injury and Damien Williams now back to making the backfield a timeshare, the offense simply can’t support making McCoy a viable starting option in fantasy football. Look elsewhere as McCoy goes below his projected 6.1 points this week.

Some alternatives this week are: Adrian Peterson, WAS (vs. MIA), Kenyan Drake, MIA (vs. WAS), Rex Burkhead, NE (vs. NYG).
