2020 NFL Mock Draft: Jalen Hurts goes to Colts, Dolphins pair Tua with Jeudy
Throughout his career, there have been times when Andy Dalton has looked more than just competent. Having said that, the big issues with Dalton in his time with the Cincinnati Bengals is that he’s nothing more than that — it’s his ceiling. To worsen the situation, he’s not always been consistent, experiencing a bevy of peaks and valleys in his performance through the years. Thus, it’s time for a change.
Oregon’s Justin Herbert is that change. While he may not steal the headlines to the degree that Tagovailoa does, no one can argue the fact that Herbert is the clear-cut No. 2 quarterback in the 2020 NFL Draft class. He’s less of an immediate sure thing for the Bengals to take but his upside might be the greatest among his peers given his immense physical tools and potential to be a star if he progresses properly.
Jay Gruden is now gone from the Washington Redskins and it’s becoming clearer by the day that this is among — if not the absolute worst — run organization in professional sports. Dan Snyder’s meddling, Bruce Allen’s bad decision-making and the overall ineptitude that exudes from Washington all have run them into a situation where they’re unintentionally bottoming out.
Having said that, the Redskins used a 2019 first-round pick on Dwayne Haskins and don’t appear to be getting star left tackle Trent Williams back anytime soon. As such, Washington should protect their investment at quarterback. Georgia’s Andrew Thomas is the best tackle prospect in the class, a good athlete with tremendous size, length and strength that should slot in as a starter the moment he puts on the burgundy and gold cap.
