Stud: Mike Evans (9 catches for 96 yards)

After not hauling in a single catch last week in the loss to New Orleans, Evans came back with a strong performance in Week 6. His nine catches for 96 yards was another great performance and he showed why he’s considered to be one of the league’s best receivers.

However, if he wants to be the league’s best receiver, the drops have to stop. He had Bradberry beat on a long go route that likely would have ended in a touchdown if he had not dropped a perfect pass from Winston. Furthermore, he had another big gain that he dropped late in the fourth quarter when the Bucs were driving.

Nevertheless, his afternoon was more stud than dud, which is more than we can say for the rest of the Bucs.

Dud: Cornerback Vernon Hargreaves III (5 tackles)

When I looked at the box score, I wasn’t surprised that Hargreaves was close to the team lead in tackles. Why wasn’t I surprised? Well, it certainly wasn’t because he had a good game.

In fact, he was burned on a constant basis. No matter who he matched up against, whether it was D.J Moore or Curtis Samuel, Hargreaves was consistently targeted by Panthers quarterback Kyle Allen. Of course, it worked out pretty well.

Moore (seven catches for 73 yards on 10 targets) and Samuel (four catches for 70 yards and two total touchdowns) were open for the majority of the contest. After a solid start, Hargreaves III has regressed. He needs to get back on top of his game and ASAP. The Bucs’ defense can’t afford to have him fall apart.
