2. Baltimore Ravens

After having already made a big trade for cornerback Marcus Peters, it’s clear the Baltimore Ravens recognize that their defensive performance to start the 2019 season has been an issue. And Peters helps tremendously as the Ravens are relying more on their secondary than their pass rush to be effective when opposing teams are throwing. But why not help out both departments?

While giving up more draft capital may not be that enticing, the Ravens look like a dangerous team out of the AFC with Lamar Jackson leading a new-look offense. Adding Beasley to a rotation of pass-rushers that includes Matthew Judon could help that group be more consistently effective off of the edge and get this defense on par with what the offense is currently doing.

1. Oakland Raiders

To say that the Oakland Raiders are better than expected would likely be understating how well they’ve performed. Particularly after the Antonio Brown debacle, the team looked destined for a disastrous 2019 season. Instead, they sit at 3-2 through five games and are in position to make a playoff push in the AFC. To do that, though, they need help on defense.

The pass rush for Jon Gruden’s team has left a lot to be desired in terms of consistency. Point blank, they aren’t getting to the quarterback with enough regularity, even after adding Clelin Ferrell with a first-round pick this year. Adding an experienced player like Vic Beasley to rotate in could spark the Raiders pass rush and help solidify them as a viable threat to make the postseason.
