4. Washington Redskins

Trade assets: Ryan Kerrigan, Josh Norman, Paul Richardson, Trent Williams

We should all recognize by now that there’s no way Dan Snyder will allow Trent Williams to be traded. The owner is too stubborn to admit Williams should be allowed to play somewhere else. Thus, Snyder will withhold trading the 31-year old, seven-time Pro Bowl left tackle. Williams, who has to be nearing the end of his prime, is in the second to last year of a five-year, $66 million contract extension.

Keeping Williams around while he has no intention of playing for the Redskins ever again is a bone-headed move. It only damages Washington’s hopes for the future, which are already bleak. If Washington fails to acknowledge that it’s time to move some of their pieces, then the rebuilding process will only be set back further. The Redskins will remain a pushover.

Paul Richardson is in the second year of a five-year, $40 million contract with the Redskins. He hasn’t been productive in the least though. Last year, he only caught 20 passes for 262 yards. His signing was a mistake. If Washington can flip him for something, that would be convenient.

Likewise, Josh Norman is playing on a massive contract that he hasn’t lived up to. The former All-Pro is in the fourth year of a five-year, $75 million contract. Approaching age 32, Norman is already showing his age. It would be a blessing if the Redskins could move his contract, but that seems unlikely.

The Redskins love Ryan Kerrigan, mostly because he’s been a consistent cornerstone on the team since he was drafted in 2011. However, Kerrigan is now 31 years old and the Redskins have added plenty of other pass rushers to their young defensive front. Kerrigan is in the second to last year of a five-year, $57.5 million deal. Washington isn’t going anywhere over the next two seasons. So, why not flip the four-time Pro Bowler?
