Stud: Austin Ekeler

Wide receiver Keenan Allen and running back Austin Ekeler have both been Rivers’ go-to targets this season. In this game, it was solely Ekeler. Although he ran for a meager seven yards on five attempts, his receiving stats tell a different story, finishing with seven receptions, 118 yards and a touchdown. Whenever the Chargers were in need of a first down, Ekeler was there to convert.

Though the talented pass-catching running back is now splitting snaps and touches with Melvin Gordon, Ekeler has shown that he can still have an impact on the field and give the Chargers a chance to win the game when trailing.

Stud: Roderic Teamer

Despite the absence of safeties Adrian Philips and Derwin James due to injuries, safety Roderic Teamer was there to pick up the slack against the Titans in Week 7. Off a pass that was tipped by outside linebacker Uchenna Nwosu, Teamer was able to easily get in position and catch the ball.

Again, injuries have really hampered this Chargers defense and are a big reason why the team has gotten off to a hugely disappointing 2-5 start to the year. Having said that, seeing a player like Teamer step up and display a high football IQ to make that type of play was promising as some of the backups are stepping in and stepping up amidst the injury issues.
