Cleveland Browns. player. 53. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. S. Damarious Randall. 3

A former star safety at Arizona State, Damarious Randall was a first-round pick of the Green Bay Packers in 2015. Green Bay liked his coverage ability enough to move him to cornerback, which is the position he played for three seasons with them. He was never a star but did prove to be a ballhawk, picking off 10 passes in 39 games with the Pack.

Ahead of the 2018 season, he was traded to the Cleveland Browns for quarterback DeShone Kizer and moved back to his original safety position. He had his best season as a pro, recording 85 tackles with four interceptions. Randall was also a vocal leader in the secondary and famously intercepted a pass in a game against the Cincinnati Bengals and ran the ball to the sideline to hand the ball off to Hue Jackson — who was an assistant with Cincy just weeks after being fired in Cleveland.

Randall then entered this season hoping to earn a big payday. So far, he’s been unable to get Cleveland to lock him up and it’s becoming apparent that’s not going to happen. Randall has played in just four games this season as he deals with a leg injury and he even recently removed the team’s name from his Twitter Bio.

Dallas could use this to their advantage by trying to pry Randall from the Browns’ hands ahead of the deadline. He does have some injury concerns as he’s never played a full 16 games in his career, but there’s no denying he’s a turnover machine — something the Cowboys defense sorely needs. Even if it proves to be a half-season rental, Randall’s addition could be a difference-maker as they look to secure the NFC East for a second-straight season.
