2. Robby Anderson, WR — New York Jets

Whenever the trade deadline approaches, there are always a few teams worth keeping an eye on — and that would be the teams that are out of contention. Oftentimes when that’s the case, those clubs are looking to trade away players who are on expiring contracts in an effort to stockpile draft picks for a rebuild.

This season, the New York Jets are one of those teams. Sitting at just 1-6 (with the one win painfully being their victory over Dallas) the Jets need to look to the future. And apparently they are as there are reports that wide receiver Robby Anderson is on the trading block.

More from Dallas Cowboys

Anderson is an interesting trade target who is capable of taking the top off any defense. He showed that in the win over Dallas when he torched them for a career-long 92-yard touchdown. He’s also added scores from 76 and 69-yards in his four-year career.

Formerly undrafted out of Temple, Anderson has yet to become a consistent player but does have 176 receptions for 2,589 yards and 16 touchdowns in his career. With Dallas, he would be in a crowded wide receiver room which already consists of Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup, Randall Cobb, and Tavon Austin.

However, the Cowboys already saw how easy that depth can be tested as Gallup and Cobb have already missed a couple of games this season with injury and Cooper had to sit out the majority of the Jets game when he had a thigh injury after just one reception.

Adding Anderson may seem as if they’re putting too many mouths on the field that will need to eat but he’s a younger option than both Cobb and Austin that could help this season while providing them a more long-term option as the third receiver.
