Minnesota Vikings: 3 Players that must shine vs. Chiefs in Week 9
Before the Minnesota Vikings battle the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 9, here are three players that must step up and shine in the game for the Vikings.
Now officially at the midway point in the 2019 NFL season, the Minnesota Vikings are one of the hottest teams in the league as of late. While riding a winning streak and firing on all cylinders over the course of the last few weeks, the Vikings enter Week 9 with one of their toughest tests of the regular season schedule to this point.
Minnesota will hit the road to take on the powerful Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. The Vikings are coming off of a game where they took down the Washington Redskins 19-9 in Week 8 at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis on Thursday Night Football.
While remaining undefeated at home so far this season, Minnesota jumped out to an early first-half lead over Washington at home to eventually come away with yet another win.
In the game, the Vikings jumped out to a 13-6 lead over the Redskins following the first two quarters in Minneapolis, before outscoring Washington 6-3 in the second half to escape with a 10-point victory at US Bank Stadium.
With the win, Minnesota improved to 6-2 overall on the season while now riding a four-game winning streak coming into Week 9 in Kansas City on Sunday afternoon.
The Vikings remain behind the first-place Green Bay Packers (7-1 overall) in the NFC North standings, while sitting ahead of the Detroit Lions (3-3-1) and Chicago Bears (3-4) in the division.
Minnesota will face a team this weekend in Kansas City which is coming off of a 31-24 loss to Green Bay last Sunday night in Week 8 at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. That loss, which came without starting quarterback Patrick Mahomes who is still out with a knee injury but could return in Week 9, dropped the Chiefs to 5-3 overall while still sitting atop the AFC West standings.
Kansas City still remains ahead of the Oakland Raiders (3-4), Los Angeles Chargers (3-5) and Denver Broncos (2-6) in the division through eight contests.
With the Vikings holding an away record of 2-2 this season while the Chiefs are 1-3 on their home field, Sunday afternoon’s game in Kansas City will be a good one between two dominant teams in the NFL.
Before Minnesota and Kansas City battle it out in Week 9, let’s dive into three players that will have to step up and shine for the Vikings in the game in order for them to grab their fifth straight win of the year.
