Minnesota Vikings: 3 Players that must shine vs. Chiefs in Week 9
1. Kirk Cousins
Kirk Cousins has been one of the top-performing quarterbacks throughout the entire NFL in the last few weeks after Minnesota started focusing more on getting the passing attack rolling to match its already impressive rushing attack on the offensive end of the field.
Over the course of the last three weeks, a span in which Cousins has turned his play up a notch compared to how he began the 2019 season, the veteran quarterback has combined to throw for 956 yards, eight touchdowns and just one interception while averaging a completion percentage of 78.3 percent while averaging 10.8 yards per pass attempt in that three-game stretch.
In the Week 8 win over Washington at home on national television last Thursday, Cousins finished the game with 285 yards and no turnovers, completing 23 of his 26 pass attempts while averaging 11 yards per pass attempt in the victory.
So far this season, the quarterback has thrown for 1,997 yards, 13 passing touchdowns and has thrown just three interceptions through eight weeks of action. With a completion percentage of 72.1 percent, Cousins is averaging 9.3 yards per pass attempt and even has one rushing touchdown for Minnesota.
On Sunday afternoon against a high-powered offense that will be on the other side of the field in Kansas City, Cousins and the rest of the Vikings offense will have to step up once again and continue to display their dominance to try and come away with a big win on the road against the Chiefs.
