3. Return home helps the Raiders

The Oakland Raiders left town after a Week 2 loss to Kansas City. A week later, on September 22, they would lose to the Minnesota Vikings on the road. Now in Week 9, the Raiders will play the Lions on Nov. 3. That’s a long time to be away from home.

It’s also one reason to like the Raiders back in the Coliseum. Oakland won two of those five games away from home, so it’s reasonable to think that not being on the road will be a good start to get back on the winning track. With three of the next four in Oakland, it’s an opportunity to add to the win column against some very beatable teams.

For the Lions, this is their fourth game away from Detroit. After opening the season with a tie against the Cardinals, they have since beat Philadelphia on the road and lost to the Packers in Green Bay.

Being back in front of the Black Hole and the home crowd is something the Raiders don’t want to squander. If they are to have any hopes of a late playoff push, it begins this week against the Lions. It’s also the first of the last five games the Silver and Black will play in the city of Oakland.
