3. New York Jets
Along with the Cleveland Browns, the New York Jets were another team that spent years looking for a potential quarterback to build the franchise around, and seemed to have found their answer in Sam Darnold during the 2018 NFL Draft.
Just like Baker Mayfield, Darnold still has plenty of work to do before he can even be part of the conversation of a top quarterback in the NFL, but the Jets seem confident in the USC product being the answer they spent years waiting for.
As far as the backup situation is concerned, David Fales is another one of those unproven quarterbacks that New York arguably shouldn’t feel confident in if something were to happen to Darnold in the future.
Believe it or not, the Jets were previously considered a potential landing spot for Kapernick on numerous occasions over the years before Darnold came into the picture with all of their issues at the quarterback position.
Joining the Jets wouldn’t put Darnold’s starting job at risk since New York didn’t use a first-round pick in 2018 just to have him sit on the bench, at least as far as backup would be concerned, Kaepernick would easily be an upgrade over their current situation.
