The Philadelphia Eagles hope to make a statement against the New England Patriots in Week 11. Bold predictions for the matchup in Philly on Sunday.

Whenever the Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots shared a football field last, it was Super Bowl LII, a game that neither fanbase has surely forgotten. On Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field, the Patriots will have a shot at revenge as they meet up with the Eagles in Week 11, headlining the late-afternoon slate.

New England is coming off of their bye week after suffering their first loss of the 2019 season. Tom Brady and Bill Belichick will certainly be hungry to re-establish themselves on Sunday. They’ll have a good chance as Carson Wentz has a banged-up offense around him with Jordan Howard and Alshon Jeffery ruled out.

So how will things play out in the Super Bowl LII rematch? Let’s make five bold predictions for this matchup between the Eagles and Patriots.

5. Sanders shines with 125 total yards

With Jordan Howard out, the Eagles are still going to want to run the ball, particularly after the way that the Ravens gashed the Patriots on the ground two weeks ago. While Philly doesn’t have the same weapons, they do have rookie Miles Sanders, who has been impressive of late. Philadelphia will be looking to get as many touches to the talented youngster as they can and he’ll go to work with his explosiveness against the big-bodied linebackers of New England.

4. Sanu burns Eagles for 10+ catches, 100 yards

The Patriots trading for Mohamed Sanu was a perfect move for this offense. They needed another reliable option for Brady in the passing offense and Sanu has immediately been able to give them that. Moreover, I expect the Eagles to key in on stopping Julian Edelman (as they should) which opens things up for Sanu to be a monster. He’ll grab double-digit receptions and top 100 yards for the day.

3. Goedert comes up with 80 yards, TD

One thing that we always see from the New England Patriots is Bill Belichick taking away what opposing teams do best. For the Eagles, that likely means keying in on tight end Zach Ertz, who is their leading receiver on the season. However, Philly has another talented tight end in Dallas Goedert that will have some success on Sunday. With the focus on Ertz, Goedert will find some seams and end the day with a nice receiving total and a trip across the goal line.

2. Gilmore notches pick-six

With no Alshon Jeffery for the Philadelphia Eagles, the wide receiver corps for the home team is severely lacking. Heck, they signed Jordan Matthews back to Philly and he figures to play a non-negligible role if that tells you anything.

Stephon Gilmore and the Patriots secondary have been playing phenomenally this season, with the star cornerback looking like one of the best in the position in the NFL. Against second-tier wide receivers, he’ll get the better of his matchup and of Wentz at least once, capitalizing immediately by returning an interception for a touchdown.

1. Patriots get Super Bowl LII revenge

Again, the last time that we saw the Patriots and Eagles going head-to-head was with the Lombardi Trophy on the line. While Philadelphia and Nick Foles were able to conquer the dynasty then, Wentz won’t be able to do the same on Sunday.

Frankly, the injuries that the Eagles are currently dealing with just seem too detrimental to the offense with the way the New England defense has performed this season. It won’t be a blowout but the Pats will rebound from their first loss of the 2019 season to get a big road win in Philly on Sunday.
