Week 17 vs. Redskins

Coming off of the most cruical win of the season in Philadelphia, there are two things at play in Week 17 for the Cowboys. For one, there is a chance that they could look to rest players, something the Jason Garrett and his staff have done in the past, as they should have the NFC East locked up and might not have a chance to improve their seeding.

Even if they do play their starters to avoid any playoff rust, though, there is the opportunity for a letdown game in this one. We’ve seen Dallas frustratingly not get up for games this season, most notably in the shocking loss to the Jets. It’s a real problem for this coaching staff and the roster and, on the heels of a monster win, that could be the scary element at play here.

What’s fortunate for the Cowboys, though, is that they could likely come out flat against the Redskins or play their starters for just the first half and still do enough to beat the Redskins. Washington has been downright bad this season and, even against their rivals, they have no incentive to win games right now. They are playing for the draft and the future.

Subsequently, my money is on the Cowboys — no matter the situation — ending the regular season with a win. Dwayne Haskins isn’t ready to win NFL games and Dallas should be able to come out and limit the Washington offense enough to pick up a win, even if Prescott, Cooper and Elliott don’t see much time.

Predicted Result: Win
Final Record: 11-5
