New York Jets stock report, Week 12: Sam Darnold on the rise
Sam Darnold of the New York Jets is enjoying a bull market in the latest edition of the Gang Green stock report entering Week 12.
The New York Jets are like butter — they’re on a roll with a two-game winning streak, topping two NFC East opponents in the Giants and Redskins. And they’ve looked good doing it, too.
That streak may end on Sunday in Week 12 against the much-improved Oakland Raiders but Jets fans need to enjoy fleeting success when they can.
With that being said, let’s take a look at the latest stock report for Gang Green heading into their contest against the silver and black.

Stock Up
Sam Darnold: The second-year signal-caller is enjoying a bull market recently with his second straight solid outing. The USC product threw for 293 yards and four touchdown passes against the Redskins and now has five touchdown tosses in his last two contests.
Darnold did throw one terrible interception, though, throwing off his back foot again under pressure instead of tossing it away against Washington. Aside from that, Darnold looked confident and in control. He used his strong rollout ability to find open receivers and he is getting better each week at stepping up in the pocket to avoid pressure. He looks like a franchise quarterback moving forward.
Ryan Griffin: The Londonderry, NH continued his stellar play with five receptions for a game-high 109 yards and a touchdown vs. the Skins. He has more than filled in admirably at the tight end position for Chris Herndon this season.
Griffin has become one of Darnold’s favorite targets and a viable threat in the red zone. Expect Darnold to keep feeding Griffin, especially down the seam, against a vulnerable Raiders secondary this Sunday.
Jamal Adams: The Pro Bowl safety is playing at an elite level. He may be the best safety in the NFL. The LSU product collected three sacks against Washington and now has six on the season, the most for any Gang Green defensive back in franchise history. Pretty impressive.
His six sacks lead the team as does his amount of tackles (56), tackles for loss (8) and QB hits (9). Adams is also very stout against the run and is the emotional leader of the defensive corps.
Stock Down
Le’Veon Bell: It’s hard to find a bear market performer presently but the three-time Pro Bowl halfback is averaging a career-low 3.2 yards per carry this season. Most of that can be blamed on Gang Green’s shaky offensive line that is simply not creating enough holes for Bell to run through. Bell likes to pause and find a hole but holes are simply not there.
He has not topped 100 rushing yards in any game this season and gained just 59 against a suspect Redskins rush defense. At least he’s been healthy. Bell has boosted New York’s offense with 46 receptions for 309 yards and a touchdown though. He’s still a premier receiver with a world of talent.
