4. Ravens defense harasses Jimmy G

For as good as the San Francisco 49ers have been this season, one area where they’ve been hit-or-miss has been on the offensive line. That’s not totally fair as the group up front has dealt with a number of injuries, particularly to tackles Joe Staley and Mike McGlinchey. Thus, Jimmy Garoppolo has been forced to deal with a good deal of pressure at times this year.

That is music to the ears of the Ravens defense. Baltimore is one of the most blitz-heavy defenses in the NFL this season, using exotic looks and pressures to generate a pass rush as they don’t have a labeled superstar on the edge. As a result of their creative stylings, though, a player like Matthew Judon has shined this year and we’ll see that again on Sunday afternoon.

While McGlinchey will be on the field, he’s playing at less than 100 percent for the 49ers line. Moreover, Staley is listed at questionable, so he’ll either not play or be at less than full health himself.

Subsequently, Judon and the Ravens front seven is going to get after Garoppolo at M&T Bank Stadium. More than that though, Jimmy G has struggled this season when he’s been pressured heavily. So not only will he be taken to the turf for four or more sacks but he’ll also give the ball to the Ravens a couple of times.

The Baltimore secondary has been playing lights-out since Marcus Peters arrived and Jimmy Smith got healthy to join Marlon Humphrey. They are ready for the pressure up front to force some bad throws from Garoppolo and they’ll capitalize with a pair of interceptions.
