Los Angeles Chargers (4-8) at Jacksonville Jaguars (4-8)

Sunday, December 8, 4:05PM ET

After nearly a month of having Nick Foles at the helm, the Jacksonville Jaguars made the smart decision to bench the former Super Bowl MVP for Gardner Minshew this past Sunday. It didn’t result in a win, but it was obvious who the superior talent was.

With Minshew likely moving forward as the starter, the Jaguars’ odds of winning absolutely increase. That could mean bad things for the Los Angeles Chargers, who have already watched what looked like a promising season implode. Another loss in Week 14 won’t make this painful pill of a 2019 campaign any easier to swallow.

Philip Rivers just isn’t a trustworthy option under center anymore. He’s having one of his worst seasons as the Chargers’ starter, and age is clearly becoming an issue. Even if Los Angeles does bench him in favor of Tyrod Taylor, I’m not sure the career journeyman will give them enough oomph on offense to get the win in Jacksonville.

So I’m hanging my hat on the Jaguars this week. I’m not confident when picking either of these clubs, but someone has to win in Week 14. If I have to put my money on someone, it’s going to Minshew and his rookie magic.

Prediction: Jaguars win 17-14
