Carolina Panthers (5-7) at Atlanta Falcons (3-9)

Sunday, December 8, 1PM ET

It’s becoming more and more obvious that Kyle Allen isn’t the answer for the Carolina Panthers. During their current four-game losing streak, the inexperienced quarterback has played a huge role in their weekly demise. Until he starts playing better or is replaced, the trend will continue.

That’s why I’m picking the Atlanta Falcons to win this one. Yes, they haven’t been any better this season. They’ve struggled for much of the year, and only recently started playing some consistently competitive football. And yet, after beating the Panthers only a few weeks ago, the Falcons should be capable of pulling out the victory again at home.

Matt Ryan‘s struggles are due in large part to the offensive line’s ineffectiveness. They haven’t provided him the protection he so often received in years passed, which hasn’t made it easy for him to throw to a depleted receiving corps. Despite that fact, he should be able to take advantage of this suddenly susceptible Carolina secondary in Week 14.

It’s been a disappointing year for both of these squads, which are both still trying to figure out what went wrong. It’s only going to get worse for the Panthers on Sunday, when they suffer their fifth straight loss to emphasize their spectacular second-half meltdown.

Prediction: Falcons win 23-21
