3. Patriots defense will have its hands full

The New England defense will be matched up against one of the top offenses in the entire NFL on Sunday evening, facing Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and company that ranks near the top of the league in multiple offensive categories.

More from NFL Spin Zone

The high-powered Kansas City offense goes into Sunday’s game averaging 384.7 total yards per contest, which ranks fourth in the NFL behind only the Seattle Seahawks, Baltimore Ravens and Dallas Cowboys. The Chiefs rank third in the league with 290.2 passing yards per game and third in points per game with 29.0 per matchup through 12 games.

The Patriots defense has been fairly dominant for a majority of the season up to this point, however, which has allowed New England to keep opponents in check while allowing its offense to try and stretch out leads throughout the course of a game.

The Patriots go into Week 14 ranking second in total yards given up per game with 258.0, while also ranking the best in the league in points given up per game with an NFL-low 12.1 points per game.

It will be fun to see how this New England defense stacks up against the high-powered and potent Kansas City offense in Week 14 and if the Patriots will be able to hold Mahomes and company in check to try and get back into the win column on Sunday evening.
