Stock Down: Aaron Rodgers

This isn’t about a pedestrian stat-line for Aaron Rodgers. Yes, you’d like to see more than 18-of-28 for 195 yards, one touchdown and one interception from the quarterback in such a favorable matchup but it was enough to win the game, so it’s hard to fault him too much. However, it is very much about how he appeared to be playing in regards to his mentality.

Rodgers appeared to be relatively checked out for much of Week 14. His sack-fumble that cost the Packers possession was a careless error on his part and he should’ve thrown at least one interception if the Redskins defense had been able to make a play. With that and the inconsistency of the offense outside of Jones, Rodgers’ state right now is at least mildly worrisome.

Stock Up: Pass Rush

Free-agent addition Za’Darius Smith has been Green Bay’s most consistent pass-rusher throughout the 2019 season but he was actually relatively quiet in that regard on Sunday against Washington, failing to accrue a sack and finishing with just one quarterback hit. And yet, the Packers pass rush showed they are more than just Smith with a strong overall performance.

Green Bay ended up with four sacks and eight quarterback hits in total on Sunday against Washington as Kenny Clark notched 1.5 sacks and Preston Smith came up with one of his own while Adrian Amos supplemented his interception with a sack as well. While the Packers defense is far from perfect at this moment, the fact that they can rush the passer in a number of ways will serve them well down the stretch and into the playoffs.
