Houston Texans vs. Tennessee Titans: 5 Bold predictions for Week 15

Entering Week 15, the Tennessee Titans and Houston Texans are seemingly on different paths. While the latter is struggling to find consistency, the former has been one of the NFL’s hottest teams. Now both boasting 8-5 records, they meet for the first time in the 2019 season on Sunday in a matchup that could go a long way in determining the AFC South champion.
Deshaun Watson and the Texans are still hard to peg. One week after getting plenty of fanfare for taking down the Patriots, they got lambasted by the Broncos last Sunday in a game that was never close. Their defense remains an issue, no matter how talented Watson and the offense are.
As for the Titans, Ryan Tannehill taking over has jumpstarted this team as their 6-1 since he took over as the starter. Couple that with Derrick Henry hitting his late-season stride and this team is rolling. And yet, the defense still seems susceptible to big performances as they’ve not been tested for a few weeks.

This should be an exciting matchup in Week 15 with huge postseason implications. But what will transpire? Here are five bold predictions for the Texans vs. Titans matchup in Nashville on Sunday.
5. Nuk scorches Tennessee secondary for 175 yards
With Will Fuller missing yet another game last week and listed as questionable for Week 15, the focus of the Texans passing attack will be on DeAndre Hopkins. But with Adoree Jackson set to miss Sunday’s game, defending Hopkins is not going to be easily achieved. Frankly, Tennessee won’t be able to do it.
Likely seeing something similar to the 13 targets he saw last week, Hopkins will get by the Titans secondary consistently on Sunday and end the day with close to 200 yards receiving and at least one trip across the goal line.
4. Tannehill tops 300, throws for 3 TDs in second-straight game
As mentioned, the Titans have looked like a completely different team since Ryan Tannehill took over the offense. And though he’s not been asked to be a superstar, he has looked like one anyway. He really looked the part against the Raiders last week as he went 21-of-27 for 391 yards and three touchdowns.
Now facing a Texans secondary that has left a lot to be desired in the 2019 season, Tanny will again find immense success. A.J. Brown should get loose a time or two again and Tannehill will end up with more than 300 yards and hit the three-touchdown mark once again.
3. Watson accounts for 5 TDs with at least one rushing
When Watson has been on this season, he’s been downright incredible. But we haven’t seen him really take off in recent weeks as his “best” games have not been either in winning efforts or haven’t been all that productive.
Though the win isn’t guaranteed, he’ll keep Tennessee in it, coming up big with both his arms and legs to run past the Titans defense and give the Texans at least five touchdowns by himself.
2. Henry stays red-hot 150 yards rushing, 3 total TDs
In the simplest terms, there’s been no stopping Derrick Henry over the last month and a half. After having only one 100-yard game in his first nine games this season, he’s now reeled off four consecutive outings. For good measure, he has 149 or more rushing yards in three of those games and has combined for seven rushing touchdowns over that span.
Houston has not been a bad run defense this season but they’ve been far from a stout group in that regard. Furthermore, they’ve faced few backs playing like Henry, who will feast in a big game (despite being questionable this week) with another 150-yard performance.
1. Titans, Texans combine for 80 points
Particularly with Jackson out for Tennessee, neither of these defenses seem well-equipped to stop a good offense. And at their best, both the Titans and Texans are high-quality offensive teams. Thus, expect the scoreboard’s bulbs to get a workout on Sunday.
