Before the Minnesota Vikings host the Green Bay Packers on Monday Night Football in Week 16, here are three Vikings players that must shine in the game.
The Minnesota Vikings face their biggest test of the 2019 NFL season in their penultimate matchup. With a lot riding on the Week 16 contest at U.S. Bank Stadium, including trying to continue to climb the NFC North standings and NFC playoff picture, Minnesota will welcome the Green Bay Packers to Minneapolis in a divisional showdown on Monday Night Football.
The Vikings come into the contest riding a two-game winning streak, while holding an overall record of 10-4 on the year up to this point. Minnesota trails the Packers (11-3 overall) for first place in the NFC North, while remaining ahead of the Chicago Bears (7-7) and Detroit Lions (3-7-1) in the division.
A win over Green Bay on Monday Night Football in Week 16 would push Minnesota into a tie for first place in the NFC North and would make for an interesting regular-season finale against the Chicago Bears in Week 17. The Vikings, which also currently hold onto the second Wild Card spot in the NFC postseason picture, are trying to leap the Packers in order to grab a better seed and a home contest in the playoffs in a few weeks.
Minnesota, which has won four of its last five games going into this weekend, has been stellar at home this season in Minneapolis and will be tough for Green Bay to top in the Week 16 matchup at US Bank Stadium. The Vikings are the last remaining team in the NFL to hold an undefeated record at home, sitting at 6-0.
Minnesota is coming off of a dominant 39-10 victory on the road in Week 15 against the Los Angeles Chargers, appearing to be clicking on all cylinders going into the important game against Green Bay on Monday.
On the other side of the field, the Vikings will welcome in their rivals in the Packers who are coming off of a 21-13 win at home in Week 15 against Chicago, holding off the Bears late in that contest to pull out the victory.
Green Bay goes into the final two weeks of the regular season with a pair of road contests ahead of it, facing Minnesota this week while traveling to Detroit in Week 17.
