5. Wilson rests in fourth quarter due to blowout

The Carolina Panthers were already thrilled to bounce back in a big way to defeat the Carolina Panthers last weekend, but watching the Atlanta Falcons knock off the San Francisco 49ers in front of their own fans took the excitement to new levels.

As a result of the win by the Seahawks to go along with a San Francisco loss, Seattle is back in the driver’s seat with the NFC playoff picture, as they got bumped up to the No. 1 seed with two games to go.

Early on in the season, the Seahawks made it clear right away they would be one of the top teams to beat within the NFC, but finishing on top of the conference would be an amazing accomplishment.

While most of the attention for Seattle will be on that regular-season finale against San Francisco in Week 17, the team still needs to make sure they defeat the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday to make sure the Seahawks remain in the best shape possible.

After defeating their rivals by 17 points during the first meeting in October, Sunday’s game in Seattle against the Cardinals could result in Russell Wilson resting in the fourth quarter since the Seahawks will be playing at home in front of their own fans.
