4. Scott shows up in passing game

With Jordan Howard having been out of the lineup and set to miss Sunday’s crucial matchup with the Cowboys as well, the Eagles have been forced to look elsewhere when working out of the backfield. Rookie Miles Sanders has stepped up and acquitted himself in that regard but little-known youngster Boston Scott has emerged as well.

More from NFL Spin Zone

In the Eagles’ Monday Night Football win over the Giants in Week 14, Scott showed up in a monster way as he rushed the ball 10 times for 59 yards and a touchdown while catching six passes for 69 yards. He was solid again last week against Washington with seven receptions for 39 yards to go with six carries for 26 yards.

After what Dallas’ defense was able to do against Todd Gurley and the Rams last week, holding the running back to just 20 yards on the ground, it’s hard to imagine the Eagles having much success rushing as well. However, with Sean Lee filling in again for Leighton Vander Esch at linebacker for Dallas, they can be had as receiving threats out of the backfield.

That’s where Scott will very much come into play. The Cowboys should be able to generate a strong pass-rush against Philadelphia (more on that momentarily), which means getting the ball out quick. They’ll do that well with Scott, who will end the day with at least six catches once again and should have around 50 receiving yards as well.
