Round 1: Grant Delpit, S, LSU

If there’s anything good about the way the Cowboys fell apart at the end of this season, it’s their draft positioning in 2020. Had they won the NFC East with a record of 8-8 or 9-7, they would be drafting in the mid-20s. Now, they have a shot at drafting closer to the middle of the pack.

With that being the case, they completely luck out in this mock draft as Grant Delpit from LSU is still on the board. Should this selection actually come to fruition, it would be greeted by the loudest cheers ever by the Cowboys faithful in attendance.

That’s because no position has been in more of a need than safety for the Cowboys and they just keep acting as though everything is fine. To their credit, they did at least kick the tires on Jamal Adams and Earl Thomas, but the trigger wasn’t pulled in either instance.

With Delpit, they get someone capable of changing the entire secondary, in the way Adams or Thomas would have, but without the high veteran price tag. Patience pays off in that respect but they also painted themselves into a corner by keeping their head in the sand too long here and ignoring the position.
