Chicago Bears: 5 Cornerbacks to target in 2020 NFL Draft
At the start of the 2019 season, many viewed C.J. Henderson as the top cornerback in the nation. He was easily expected to be the first cornerback to go in the first round.
Then he suffered an injury early in the season, missed some time, and had a down season. In his first two seasons, he recorded six interceptions and three sacks. He had no interceptions and one sack this season.
Henderson is an athletic, physical cornerback who can play a wide array of schemes. If you need him to play press, zone, or slot he can do it well. He also blitzes well.
At 6-1, 202 pounds, Henderson has the size teams desire. He also has good strength and can affect receivers’ routes. He is also a ball hawk. In addition to the six career interceptions, he also has 20 passes defended. He is also a confident, close to cocky, player who’ll let you know when he’s shutting you down. Also, he’ll forget when he gets burned and moves on to the next play. That’s what you want in a player who plays on an island many times.
With his down year, and with a deep cornerback class, some teams might go after safer prospects, especially in the early rounds. That could work to the Bears’ advantage. Henderson will have a long, good career and if he’s available the Chicago Bears need to pick him up.
