Minnesota Vikings (6) at New Orleans Saints (3)

Saturday, January 5, 1:05PM ET

As a Minnesota Vikings fan, I would love to believe they stand a legitimate shot at winning this game. And realistically, they at least have at outside chance seeing as they made the playoffs. Let’s be real, though — the New Orleans Saints are moving on from the Wild Card Round.

These teams are just in two different places right now.

On one hand, the Saints are at the top of their game. Drew Brees is playing some of his best football, and he’s got plenty of capable playmakers around him who can help carry the offensive load — specifically, Michael Thomas. The New Orleans defense is also doing its part, which is partly why the Saints have secured wins in six of their last seven games.

On the other hand, the Vikings have taken an embarrassing tumble in recent weeks. Without Dalvin Cook to balance the offense, Kirk Cousins hasn’t been able to consistently move the ball. Even with Cook expected to play on Sunday, I don’t see Minnesota mustering enough offense (or points) to keep pace with an explosive Saints squad.

I’m glad the Vikings made the playoffs, but they have too many weaknesses to take down a legit contender like New Orleans. This one should be out of reach by the start of the fourth quarter.

Prediction: Saints win 37-17
