1. Positive: Falcons were stellar on offense once again

The final takeaway from this season is optimistic as Atlanta’s offense once again stepping up as a top-notch unit on that side of the ball in 2019. When your offense consists of players like quarterback Matt Ryan, wide receivers Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley and running back Devonta Freeman, it’s no surprise to see that Atlanta was once again able to find success on the offensive side of the ball once again this year.

The Falcons also did get some nice play out of players like tight end Austin Hooper, although he was held back to some extent with a mid-season injury, which further boosted the team offensively.

Throughout the regular season, Atlanta ranked fifth in the NFL in total yards per game, coming in with an average of 379.7 yards per contest. The Falcons also ranked second in first downs per matchup with 23.9, while ranking eighth in passing touchdowns with a total of 29 and 13th in points per game with 23.8 a game.

One area where the Falcons did struggle to some extent was running the ball and in the rushing attack during the regular season. Atlanta finished the 2019 campaign ranking 30th in the NFL in rushing yards per game, averaging 85.1 yards per game on the ground to come to a complete tally of 1,361 rushing yards in 16 contests.
